In 1993 Ducati took a gamble on a new class of motorcycles. Dubbed naked bikes, they take sportbike engineering and strip it of most of the bodywork, exposing its mechanical glory for all to see.

Ducati's choice to make Senna's honorary bike from its classic naked bike frame is no mistake, either. When the original Monster 900 was launched in 1990, Senna was one of the very first owners.

Over the years, Ducati has made several Monster motorcycles, the first being the 900 but engine size has since ranged from 600ccs up to 1200ccs — a key part of the Monster's popularity.

According to Ducati, the Monster SP’s wet weight is 2 kg (4.4 lb) less than that of the standard model, tipping the scales at 186 kg (410 lb) in running order.

Ducati dealers across the nation will begin receiving the Monster SP in February 2023; Canadian riders will need to wait until March 2023. Pricing starts at $15,595 excluding destination.
