The first Lewisville High School opened in 1897 when the city was a rural farming community. "Farmer Pride is 100 years old," said Permetti, referring to the school's Fighting Farmer mascot.

"Our goal is to institutionalize Fighting Farmer pride," Permetti said, adding that the two ninth-10th-grade campuses will keep Lewisville High School's enrollment from swelling to 4,000.
