Mecklenburg District Attorney Spencer Merriweather will not charge a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer who shot and killed a man outside Coyote Joe’s.
On Dec. 28, 2024, three off-duty Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers working security at Coyote Joe’s encountered Lucas Armstrong in the club’s parking lot threatening to take his own life.
The officer, identified as Joseph Calabro, had been placed on administrative leave pending after the shooting. Calabro has been with CMPD since June 2016, according to the department.
