LAKESIDE PARK, Ky. — A crash involving a school bus has been reported on Lakeside Avenue in Lakeside Park. Kenton County emergency crews are responding to the scene, in a residential area.

Bus driver shortages have been a problem for school districts since before the COVID-19 pandemic. For Lakeside though, the problem seems to have gotten even worse in the last two years.

The parents and school board members said sex offenders should not be allowed to live within 2,000 feet or 1 mile of a school, bus stop, youth sports field or park.

The Hartland-Lakeside School District's bus provider, Dousman Transport Co., said in an emailed statement the bus was operating an afternoon take-home route for the district.
