The city cited dangerous, unsanitary and inhumane living conditions resulting from years of owner as the reason.

The Sandpiper, a well-known local cruise boat, was cut loose from its mooring at the end of Jefferson Street in downtown Toledo. It was later found on land at Glass City Metropark.

That community connection has become especially important as the city of Toledo reconstructs Cherry and Summit streets.
