Successfully picking a lock in Oblivion requires you to set each of the lock's tumblers permanently in place. The lock opens if you get it right, and your pick breaks if you get it wrong.
Your goal is to push each tumbler up with the pick until it reaches the very top of the lock mechanism. Once the tumbler connects with the top, click your interact button to set the tumbler in place.
