CALLING all rev heads, this weekend it is time to pull up to the starting line and race your mates at Palmyra Dragway.

A V8 race car driver says he would like to see a permanent racing track built in Mackay. Morgan Haber will return to his home town this weekend as part of a promotion to make roads safer.

Leonard Hall of Mackay dropped off his 1943 military halftrack at the Aug. 21 car show in Mackay. Since the show was held in Tank Park, the halftrack and its machine guns fit in well.

These events give young drivers the opportunity to have fun in their cars and experience racing on a safe track instead of the streets. Gates open at 9am and races kick off at 12pm.
