This week brought more than just sunshine to Ocean City. The National Aquarium released two rehabilitated sea turtles back into the ocean on Thursday, just a few days after World Sea Turtle Day.
Mothman and Icky, Kemp’s ridley sea turtles, released after rehab. Rescued from cold stunning and injuries, they gained weight during rehabilitation.
Mothman’s recovery was complicated by a bone infection and a fractured flipper, requiring extensive antibiotic therapy. By release day, Mothman had gained 1.5 kilograms, weighing in at 15 pounds.
