Meta has cut a 20-year deal to secure nuclear power to help meet surging demand for artificial intelligence and other computing needs at Facebook's parent company.

Meta announced Tuesday morning that it was paying billions of dollars to keep an Illinois nuclear power plant running through 2047.

The Instagram and Facebook parent has a 20-year agreement with Constellation Energy to buy electricity from its operation in downstate Clinton.
