Justin Kirkland scored the decisive goal in the sixth round of the shootout Tuesday night as the red-hot Calgary Flames prevailed 4-3 over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

It wasn’t always pretty, and the Penguins were never too far removed from their near-pathological need to make ghastly mistakes. However, Nedeljkovic stopped 22 of 25 through overtime, including a few high-danger scoring chances in the opening minutes.

A game-tying goal by Nazem Kadri in the final minute of regulation and shootout goals by forward Anthony Mantha, defenseman Rasmus Andersson and Justin Kirkland gave the Calgary Flames a 4-3 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary on Tuesday.
