A group of Michigan franchisers is opening its 80 Planet Fitness locations to non-members this weekend so they can work out away from Canadian wildfire smoke.

As of March 2025, Planet Fitness had approximately 20.6 million members and 2,741 clubs in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Canada, Panama, Mexico, Australia and Spain.

Planet Fitness announced it wants to continue helping teens stay active over the summer, once again offering up free memberships to those ages 14 to 19 for the months school is not in session.

Planet Fitness is one of the largest fitness centers in the world, its website says. The commercial gym has approximately 19.6 million members and 2,599 stores in all 50 states, as of March 2024.
