The Reina Sofía museum in Madrid has lifted its ban on photographing “Guernica,” saying it hopes to enhance the experience for those viewing the antiwar painting.
Visitors to the Reina Sofía museum in Madrid can now take photographs of Picasso’s famous anti-war painting Guernica (1937) after a ban was lifted by the new director, Manuel Segade.
The Reina Sofia Museum is open on Monday and Wednesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Sundays, the museum is open from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tickets.
In an average year, the Reina Sofía Museum enriches its 25,000-strong collection, of which only 6% to 8% is usually on display, with roughly 300 works, Segade explains.
