The first weekend of summer here in Montana will be filled with rain, cool temperatures and significant mountain snow.
Snow levels are looking to fall to around 5000 ft, bringing some snow showers through Monday morning. Scattered showers continue tomorrow with snow and graupel being possible above 5500 feet.
Higher snow totals are possible above 5,000 feet. Since the rain and snow is falling in the form of off-and-on, hit-or-miss showers, both rain and snow totals will be highly variable.
Winter weather advisories are in effect from 6 a.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m. Wednesday west of the Continental Divide, which is when the bulk of the snow will fall.
The snow will fall heavily at times over Southern MN and there may be white-out conditions at times. Six inches or more of snow is possible there by late in the day Wednesday.
In L'Anse, up to 24 inches could fall by Thursday. Snow will begin Tuesday, accumulating 3 to 5 inches overnight. On Wednesday, the snow will continue with up to 10 inches.
