At last week’s confirmation hearing, education secretary nominee Linda McMahon called teaching “one of the most noble professions that we have in our country” and expressed support for workforce development programs.

The Education Department said Monday it is slashing grants for training teachers because the programs focused on “divisive ideologies.”  The department cut $600 million to these programs it says

The University of North Florida is now missing out on $7 million after a grant from the U.S. Department of Education designed to address teacher shortages was defunded.

Winston-Salem State University says the notification that the grant had been canceled stated that the program promotes or takes part in DEI initiatives.
