The Violet Hour, a James Beard Award-winning cocktail bar in Chicago's Wicker Park, is closing permanently after 18 years.

The Violet Hour, a pioneer of Chicago's cocktail prestige, has closed its doors. The bar went dark late last month because repairs were needed at its Wicker Park home at 1520 N. Damen Ave.
