MIAMI – Tropical Storm Andrea, the first tropical storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, was forecast to dissipate by Wednesday after forming at sea Tuesday, the National Hurricane Center said.
Andrea was 1,110 miles (1,785 kilometers) west of the Azores, according to an afternoon advisory by the Miami-based hurricane center. The cyclone was traveling northeast at 20 mph (31 kph).
Andrea was located 1,205 miles (1,940 kilometers) west of the Azores, forecasters said. Maximum sustained winds were at 40 mph (65 mph) and the cyclone was traveling east-northeast at 17 mph (28 mph).
