Chris Brown appeared in court in Manchester, England on Friday, May 16, a day after police confirmed he'd been charged with grievous bodily harm following an alleged assault in 2023.

Singer Chris Brown was taken into custody at a U.K. hotel on suspicion of bodily harm in relation to an alleged 2023 incident.

Brown was not present in the courtroom hearing at Southwark Crown Court for the hearing, but Judge Tony Baumgartner approved his bail, ordering the star to put up £4 million (around $5.4 million) up front, with another £1 million (around $1.3 million) due to be paid within a week.
