GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic and Zepbound are great at promoting weight loss, but they also cause folks to lose muscle along with fat, experts say.

Some new medications in development are also trying to solve for a persistent side effect of existing drugs: Patients who lose fat also tend to lose muscle. This can be particularly dangerous for older adults because it makes them more likely to fall and can worsen osteoporosis.

Weight-loss drugs look poised to have a worrying effect on UK supermarkets as total grocery sales volumes fall. Market research firm Kantar has suggested the use of so-called "skinny jabs" may partly explain the 0.4% decline - the first drop this year.
