With the Golden Globes having taken place last night awards season is now in full siwngand while Dune: Part Two didn’t take home any trophies at the 2025 Golden Globes, it’s still considered one of the best movies of the year.

Denis Villeneuve has taken issue with the Academy Awards‘ decision to make Hans Zimmer‘s Dune: Part Two score ineligible. The 3x Oscar nominee commented on the sequel’s disqualification from the Best Original Score category after the Academy determined it featured too much music from Villeneuve’s original 2021 adaptation of Frank Herbert‘s novel.

Hans Zimmer, who won the Best Original Score Oscar for Dune in 2022, has been disqualified from the same category for Dune 2 at the Oscars this year.
