The Hope Florida Foundation has been mired in controversy since state Republicans began examining why the nonprofit received $10 million from a Medicaid settlement.

In late 2024, the Hope Florida Foundation donated $10 million to two nonprofits, which then gave the money to a political committee backing Gov. Ron DeSantis' agenda.

Speaking in Winter Haven, Gov. Ron DeSantis said First Lady Casey DeSantis didn’t get “one red cent” from the $10 million routed toward political advertising last year. That money came from what he called the “ cherry on top ” from a Medicaid settlement with provider Centene.
