But the Briton has shown improved form on the clay after reaching the Madrid Open final and the Italian Open quarter-finals, so will take confidence into his opening match against Italy’s Mattia Bellucci.

Jack Draper is the highest-ranked of the British hopefuls, heading to Roland Garros as the men’s fifth seed after a superb last few months that saw him reach the semi-finals of the US Open before winning Indian Wells and making the final of the Madrid Masters.
