Some parts of the U.S. could see triple-digit temperatures over the weekend, while severe storms threaten other areas, according to forecasters.

The unofficial start of summer that comes with Memorial Day weekend won’t be bringing with it weather that is typical of the hottest months. Neither, though, will it be unusually gloomy or cold, and neither will it offer extreme wind or fire conditions. Call it border-line boring.

Sunny conditions are expected to continue for most of the weekend, the weather service said, before rain chances return Sunday night.
