Utah Yeti was one of the final six choices in the initial fan vote for the NHL's newest team, but KSL and The Athletic reported last week that a trademark bid was rejected.

The Utah NHL team has narrowed its name options to Utah Hockey Club, Utah Mammoth, and Utah Wasatch. The name "Utah Yeti" was dropped due to trademark issues with the cooler brand Yeti.

The trademark application for “Utah Yetis” was rejected by the United States Patent and Trademark Office on Jan. 9 for “likelihood of confusion” with the Yeti Coolers brand.
