Robert Prevost, the Chicago-born missionary, was elected the first pope from the United States in the history of the Catholic Church.

The plan – intersecting the use taxpayer funds and a religious organization – has raised concerns, and not just limited to the First Amendment separation of Church and State.

The Archdiocese of Chicago will host a celebration at Rate Field, the home of the Chicago White Sox, June 14 to honor Pope Leo XIV, according to a statement released by the archdiocese.
