A Tropical Storm Watch continues for the Turks and Caicos, where tropical storm conditions are possible Sunday.

Erin became a Category 3 hurricane in the Caribbean early Saturday and is expected to strengthen further during the day, the U.S. National Hurricane Center reported.

The Hurricane Center warned that heavy rain in some areas could trigger flash flooding, landslides and mudslides.

Hurricane Erin has formed in the Atlantic. The storm is expected to gain strength before passing close to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, but forecasters do not believe it will make landfall in the United States.
