The shutdown was the second major one on BART in less than two weeks. A system-wide closure on May 9 lasted from 4:25 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. A network connectivity issue that prevented controllers from seeing train locations caused that closure.

BART’s Green Line remained out of service Thursday, two days after a fire at the San Leandro station shut down a large portion of the system. In a service advisory, BART said, “there is currently no Green line service between Berryessa and Daly City.

BART reopened early Wednesday morning after a lengthy outage to all points south of Oakland's Lake Merritt Station. But the Green Line, which runs from Berryessa to San Francisco and Daly City is still out of service.
