Monette Unity MF vs. Thane Performance - View topic: Trumpet …
Jan 13, 2025 · Brassnose: Monette horns definitely have their own type of tone. I also owned a Chicago Monette and that horn had a noticeable drier tone than my Thane. While I can make the Monette work for mariachi music, I don't think I'd use it regularly for that type of playing. There are better options that get the correct sound for that genre.

MB-111, Monette "production" trumpet
Aug 18, 2023 · For those who do relate well to Monette concepts but who for whatever reason are looking for a horn that'll play well with others (in sections playing non-Monette instruments) yet give more of a bang for the buck than any 30+yr old custom horn that was made for somebody else, I think these two retro expressions, the MC-35 and MB-111 occupy a ...

Oct 19, 2002 · If you've been playing a 1.5C and are interested in switching to Monette, try a B2. The B2 is equiv to a 1.25C but Monette recommends buying a bigger Monette than the standard size. I made the switch from a 1.5C to the B2 and it's worked out great.
A Comfortable Lead Mouthpiece - View topic: Trumpet Herald forum
Nov 20, 2024 · The new Monette Unity ‘DM’ series lead mouthpieces are incredibly comfortable and versatile. In the size range you’re looking for, the DM-6L and DM-6LD would both be great options. The deepened-lead cup, LD is great for all-around commercial playing, with plenty of help in the upper register, but still enough depth of sound for playing a ...

Aug 13, 2007 · I've never played a Monette trumpet, but as far as I know they usually offer to the trumpeter a broad tonal palette, allowing him to produce easily about whatever sound he has in mind. Furthermore there's not only one model nor one type of Monette trumpet, but quite a few models (between 10 and 15 if I'm not mistaken) from very light to very ...

Nov 4, 2024 · Congrats! Monette flugelhorn and the cornet mpcs with deep VEE cups, riffing on turn-of-the-century cornet mpcs, are so much fun to play. And, after past experiences many of us have had with great sounding deep cups leaving us ultimately unsupported in different registers, at different dynamic levels, or after a few too many minutes in the chops, Constant Pitch …
Monette mouthpiece observations - View topic: Trumpet Herald …
Feb 3, 2012 · FWIW I found that an STC2 worked very well with my Taylor Chicago custom but not with other non Monette horns due t the huge throat. The Prana STC3 mouthpieces barely worked on non Monette instruments. I think the resistance is all wrong on a standard trumpet to be able to work with that sort of mass and throat set up. _____
