Nov 20, 2011 · CRKT has the additional insult of being overpriced for what you get. SOGs are unfortunate, because SOG knives were excellent a long time ago. These days, they're cheap imported trash. I'd pass on both CRKT and SOG and get a Spyderco, Buck American-made offering, American made Kershaw offering, or even a Cold Steel.

Jan 21, 2017 · Oh man I love the hammer pole on mine. I used the woods chogan pretty extensively back during the summer clearing some nasty stuff. I chopped with the blade, used the hammer and bit to pull things away from the tangle. The hammer balances the bit nicely... I admit I haven't tried the cold steel so I'm likely biased, but I think the crkt is better.

Spyderco brings higher-end steels to affordable price ranges. Civivi, Kizer (Vangard), and Stedemon make very nice knives with mid-range steels and good prices.
